About Larne Area Community Cluster

Who we are

What is the Larne Area Community Cluster

Larne Area Community Cluster is a community development initiative, facilitated by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, which aims to promote collaboration across the community and voluntary sector to deliver benefits, not only for the participating groups, but also for the wider community.

Almost 60 community groups are now working together through the Larne cluster to pool resources, share expertise, build capacity and agree an action plan for joint project delivery.

We do what we do with honesty and integrity, and are accountable to our communities

Some of our projects include:

  • Installation of four community defibrillators
  • A free family fun day in Larne Market Yard
  • A programme of free training for community groups and organisations
  • A funding information event for local community groups
  • Set up of a community directory for the greater Larne area

We are here because we are committed to our communities. We want to connect, and pool resources for the Larne area. We are motivated to keep our area alive and care about its future. We will lead by example and will make a difference for everyone through empowering ourselves and others, breaking down barriers, creating opportunities and restoring relationships

  • Having the ability to network and build relationships with fellow community groups in the area
  • Avoidance of duplication by focusing on a joint action plan to tackle issues in the community
  • Pooling of resources e.g. joining together for training, potential for hands-on assistance at events from fellow community groups and sharing equipment
  • Opportunity to share knowledge, experiences and best practice
  • Opportunity to gain a greater understanding of what is going on in the local community and access any available support for community groups
  • Potential to reach more people in the community through a supportive community group network and joined-up approach
  • Possibility of greater access to funding through joint applications
