What we do

Carnlough Community Associations services include the older people’s luncheon club, bowling club, summer schemes, community events etc. These programs promote health and well-being in all ages, reduce isolation and increase skills. The organisation offers a drop in community facility which provides information and support to local residents. We also have a weekly luncheon club which caters for 50-60 senior citizens per week. We provide a healthy 3 course meal and invite other agencies such as PSNI, Fires Service, Age NI etc. as well as delivering complimentary therapies. We also deliver 70 Easter fruit baskets, and 70 Keep warm packs in October to the most vulnerable in our area. There is also a senior citizens Christmas dinner held annually. We have a twice weekly bowling club which targets all ages within the community which encourages exercise and an opportunity to socialise.

Throughout the year we host a number of family community events, including arts and craft days, family fun days, and children’s Christmas party. Additionally, we run an annual 2-week summer scheme for over 45 children age 5-12 years of age, offering a range of activities and trips. We work along side the two local schools in facilitating democratic trips and a garden project.

How we help

We regularly engage local people and other organisations in a range of environmental projects and village clean-ups. The organisation facilitates a village forum within the area to discuss local issues, though this we engage local businesses, statutory, voluntary and community organisations. We also actively engage with our local Housing Executive acting as a voice for the tenants who live in the Carnlough area. We have 50 volunteers who provide support for all of the events and programmes that run annually.
